ATOS to stop internal email in 18 months

I'm very proud of Thierry Breton, CEO of Atos and a former French finance minister, who recently announced that ATOS, a top technology company with 30,000 employees, would no longer use email internally between employees.

I personally get frustrated with long, inefficient email chains, that often break when another person adds to the conversation from the side, or forgets to repy with history, or can't find the previous email in the chain and simply creates one from scratch.

Social Media is way more effective in almost all situations.

8 Reasons Why I Have A Scooter, And Why You Need One Too

Full-size_scooter_parts
Commuting - I hate traffic, and so do you. If you live fairly close to work, and you can get there via back roads, traffic will be a thing of the past. Nothing like the satisfaction of whizzing in between two lines of bumper to bumper cars... safely of course! Traffic no longer ruins my commute.

Low Cost – New 125cc scooters go for anywhere between R8000 and R18000. I'd recommend the 2nd hand market for an even better deal. With a 5 litre tank it currently costs me R30 to fill up, at an average of 30km/litre

Weekend Shopping – Shopping is no longer a chore. An opportunity to go get milk or sugar for the wife means a fun trip through the suburbs, and a parking spot right next to Woolworths, everytime, guaranteed! With the “topbox”, space under the seat and at my feet, there is always more than enough space for everything. Traffic no longer ruins my weekends.

3rd vehicle – My wife’s car went to the mechanic for a week recently. Ordinarily that would have been a huge inconvenience, but since I had the scooter and my wife could use my car, they could take as long as they needed.

No Hawkers - No unruly windscreen cleaners to worry about. Hawkers also leave me alone when on the bike.

Exercise – My wife and I go walking together a couple of kilometres from our house. It’s a lot of fun heading out to exercise together with my wife on the back.

Great weather – Nothing like that spin on the scooter to enjoy the excellent Johannesburg weather, especially at dusk.

Holidays – Nothing frustrates me more than going down to the coast for a relaxing vacation only to be confronted by all the Gautengers doing the same thing.... and that of course means more traffic, on vacation! Towing a small trailer carrying the scooter ensures we have a relaxing time, and also a fun time riding to the beach on the scooter. And you guessed it, traffic no longer ruins my holiday!

History of the Internet

"The Internet has almost just become an extension of one’s self. There really is almost nothing that gets done without it. And with nearly all mobile phones giving Internet capability to the individual right in the palm of the hand, it truly is hard to fathom that there once was a time without the World Wide Web at the touch of the fingertip. The Internet has become such an entrenched part of our daily lives, it’s components have even become a part of our lexicon, with site names becoming verbiage – Google, YouTube, Wiki, and Facebook, to name a few. But as with all things, it’s vital to remember where such things come from, to trace the roots." - Online MBA
